Title 36 › Subtitle Subtitle II— Patriotic and National Organizations › Part B— Organizations › Chapter 2205— UNITED STATES OLYMPIC AND PARALYMPIC COMMITTEE › Subchapter III— GRANT TO KEEP YOUNG ATHLETES SAFE › § 220531
The Attorney General may give a grant to an eligible nonprofit (not a government agency) to oversee the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee and each national governing body and help protect amateur athletes from emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. To get a grant, a nonprofit must apply and show it has nationally recognized experience in preventing and investigating such abuse and can run regular and random audits to check that anti-abuse policies are followed. Grant money can pay for new training, staff, travel, equipment, printing, sharing safeguarding information with sports organizations, and running the audits. Congress authorized $2,500,000 for each fiscal year 2018 through 2022, and those funds remain available until spent.
