§456 Managed Travel Program Refunds

Summary

The Secretary of Defense may put refunds from DoD-managed travel programs into operation and maintenance (O&M) or research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) accounts the Secretary selects, as long as the accounts can be used in the same fiscal year the refund is received. Those refunds can only pay for official travel or for improving travel operations and financial management. Managed travel program: covers air, rental cars, trains, buses, dining, lodging, and travel management but not refunds from the Government travel card, the Government Purchase Card, or travel booked through Government Contracted Travel Management Centers. Refund: means miscellaneous receipts called refunds, rebates, repayments, or similar amounts.
