Title 37 › Chapter 13— ALLOTMENTS AND ASSIGNMENTS OF PAY › § 707
The Secretary of the Army or the Secretary of the Air Force can allow a National Guard member who is not on active duty to have parts of their pay set aside under sections 204 and 206 to pay premiums for a group life insurance plan run by the member’s State military department or the State’s National Guard association. The State or association must agree in writing to pay back the United States for any costs the U.S. has to cover. The Secretary of Defense will decide the cost and how repayment works, and that decision is final. Any repayments must be put back into the same government accounts that paid the costs. The United States is not responsible for any loss or damage a person suffers because of a mistake by a U.S. officer or employee in running this allotment program.
