When a five-year level premium term insurance period ends, the policy must be renewed for another five years at the premium for the insured’s current age and no medical exam is needed, as long as the policy wasn’t converted or lapsed. If the policy did lapse, it can only be reinstated and renewed if the owner applies within five years of the lapse, and the Secretary sets the reinstatement rules.
