Title 38 › Part II— GENERAL BENEFITS › Chapter 23— BURIAL BENEFITS › § 2304
File a claim for a burial payment for the covered veteran within two years after the veteran’s burial. If the veteran was denied because of a bad discharge but that discharge is later changed to one other than dishonorable, you can file within two years from the date of that correction. If your application is missing information, the VA must tell you what’s needed; if you don’t send the required evidence within one year of that notice, no payment will be made.
