Title 38 › Part III— READJUSTMENT AND RELATED BENEFITS › Chapter 32— POST-VIETNAM ERA VETERANS’ EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE › Subchapter III— ENTITLEMENT; DURATION › § 3234
People who qualify under this chapter also get the same tutorial help that eligible veterans get under section 3492, and the same rules apply. Any money paid for tutorial help is extra and does not reduce other benefits. Only the part of tutorial pay over $600 counts against a person’s education time. For every amount over $600 that equals one month’s full‑time educational payment, one month of entitlement is charged. The first $600 of tutorial pay is paid from readjustment benefits funds. Any amount above $600 comes from a special fund made from contributions by the veteran and by the Secretary of Defense, in the same proportion those contributions are used to pay the person’s other education benefits.
