Title 38 › Part III— READJUSTMENT AND RELATED BENEFITS › Chapter 33— POST–9/11 EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE › Subchapter II— EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE › § 3315B
If you qualify for educational benefits under this chapter, you can also get payment for a covered preparatory course. The program will pay either the course fee or the amount of benefit you have left at the time of payment—whichever is less. The number of months taken from your benefit for the course is prorated by comparing the course fee to the monthly rate. The monthly rate is $2,042 for the academic year that begins August 1, 2020, and for later years it is last year’s rate increased by the most recent percentage increase from section 3015(h). A covered preparatory course is one approved by the State approving agency and meant to prepare you for a required licensing or certification test for a specific job or profession.
