The Secretary may use the facilities and services of any other Federal department or agency to carry out duties under this chapter or chapters 34 or 35. That use must be under a proper agreement with the other agency, and the cost must be paid either up front or paid back later as the agreement says. When a servicemember is discharged or released from active duty, the Secretary of Defense must give the Secretary relevant information about any registered apprenticeship the servicemember did while on active duty. The Secretary, with the Secretary of Labor, must encourage and help States and private groups give credit for that registered apprenticeship toward related civilian apprenticeship programs.
