Creates an outreach program to make sure veterans get quick, proper help to apply for and receive benefits and services. It covers all veterans, especially those recently discharged or released from active duty or reserve service and those eligible for readjustment or other benefits. The Department must actively find eligible veterans and their dependents and give them these services so they can adjust to civilian life and improve their living standard. Outreach — an organized effort to give information, services, and help applying for benefits to veterans and their families. Other governmental programs — state, local, and other federal programs outside this law. Eligible dependent — a spouse, surviving spouse, child, or dependent parent of someone who served in active military, naval, air, or space service.
