The Secretary must run a program to name certain Department hospitals as Regional Medical Education Centers to train health workers. Each Center must give ongoing medical and related training for people eligible under this subchapter. Training must teach new medical skills and new technologies and equipment. It must include advanced clinical training, chances to do clinical research, demonstrations of using new types of health workers and better ways to use current staff, and regular checks of basic medical skills with retraining if problems are found.
