Title 38 › Part V— BOARDS, ADMINISTRATIONS, AND SERVICES › Chapter 75— VISUAL IMPAIRMENT AND ORIENTATION AND MOBILITY PROFESSIONALS EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM › § 7505
If you get education help from the scholarship and you don't meet the agreement, you must pay back the part of the aid you didn't earn unless the Secretary allows an exception. The Secretary will write rules that explain how to figure the amount you must repay and when exceptions can be made. The Secretary can cancel or pause a repayment or service duty if your failure was beyond your control or if canceling is in the best interest of the United States. Any required repayment is a debt to the United States, and a bankruptcy order does not clear that debt if the discharge happens less than five years after the agreement ended.
