Title 38 › Part VI— ACQUISITION AND DISPOSITION OF PROPERTY › Chapter 82— ASSISTANCE IN ESTABLISHING NEW STATE MEDICAL SCHOOLS; GRANTS TO AFFILIATED MEDICAL SCHOOLS; ASSISTANCE TO HEALTH MANPOWER TRAINING INSTITUTIONS › Subchapter II— GRANTS TO AFFILIATED MEDICAL SCHOOLS › § 8223
Medical schools that have an agreement with the Department may apply to the Secretary for a grant to help run projects and programs at the Department medical facility they are linked to. Grants cannot pay to build any building that would be located off land the Secretary controls. Applications must include whatever information the Secretary requires. The Secretary will approve a grant only if four things are met: the projects will make a significant improvement in the school’s medical education (including continuing education); federal funds will be supplemented by other funds or resources; proper fiscal controls and accounting are in place; and the school will provide the reports, records, and access the Secretary needs to check and verify them.
