All Postal Service officers and employees must take a sworn oath before they start work or get paid. In the oath they promise to support and defend the U.S. Constitution, be loyal to it, accept the duty willingly, and do their job faithfully. The oath can be given by anyone legally allowed to administer oaths (including under section 2903 of title 5), a U.S. commissioned officer, or a Postal Service designee.
