When the United States Postal Service asks, the head of the Government Publishing Office must print pictures of U.S. postage stamps in black-and-white or color as a public document for sale by the Superintendent of Documents. The pages may include descriptive, historical, or stamp‑collecting information the Postal Service wants. The metal printing plates used (stereotype or electrotype) and their copies may not be sold or thrown away.
