District of Columbia laws that protect property and keep the peace also apply to public buildings and grounds owned by the Federal Government in the District of Columbia. Anyone who is disorderly there, who willfully damages buildings, plants, fences, walls, drains, pipes, hydrants, lamps, bridges, or who takes stones, gravel, sand, or other government property from those grounds can be fined under Title 18, jailed for up to six months, or both.
