§10225 Location of Test and Evaluation Facility

Summary

Within one year after January 7, 1983, the Secretary must send Congress a report saying whether the test and evaluation facility will be located at a repository site. If the facility is to be at any candidate or repository site, its selection and development must follow the same procedures used for repositories under subchapter I. The Secretary cannot start building surface parts until the Commission issues a construction authorization for a repository at that site. The facility cannot be changed into a repository unless it was selected and developed under those repository rules. The Secretary also may not begin construction at a candidate or recommended site until that site's designation is effective under section 10135.
