Summary

Protects state and local laws and their power to make or enforce rules. It also does not change anyone’s duties or legal responsibility under other federal laws. If a state or local law made after August 1, 1985 requires a facility to give a material safety data sheet, that sheet must match the federal data sheet in content and format. States and localities may add extra information, such as where and how much hazardous chemicals are present, on attached sheets or by other means.
