Title 42 › Chapter 119— HOMELESS ASSISTANCE › Subchapter IV— HOUSING ASSISTANCE › Part C— Continuum of Care Program › § 11386c
Lets expiring contracts that pay for leasing, rental help, or operating costs for permanent housing be renewed using money from either the HUD account for this subchapter or the Section 8 project-based rental assistance account. The money can renew tenant-based help year by year (successive 1-year terms). For project-based help, renewals can be up to 15 years if the applicant or project sponsor wants that and if Congress provides money each year. The Secretary must renew only if the area's collaborative applicant says the project is needed and meets program rules and housing quality and habitability standards. The Secretary may also use other renewal rules found elsewhere in this part.
