Title 42 › Chapter 123— DRUG ABUSE EDUCATION AND PREVENTION › Subchapter II— PROGRAM FOR RUNAWAY AND HOMELESS YOUTH › § 11821
The Secretary must give grants to public and private nonprofit groups and institutions to run projects that help runaway and homeless young people avoid or reduce illegal drug use. Projects can fund things like counseling for youth and families, peer counseling, community education and outreach, help for rural youth and community support groups, training for service providers, research on youth drug use and its links to family drug abuse and suicide attempts, and better local coordination of drug services. The Secretary must favor applicants with experience serving runaway and homeless youth. Grants can last no more than 3 years.
