The Chief Executive Officer must create a field system with one Corporation office for each State. Each State office must be located in or near the State. Only one office can carry out the duties below for a State at a time. A State office may be run by the representative named in section 12651f(c). Each State office must help State Commissions make and carry out national service plans (section 12638(e)(1)); help community groups prepare applications for national service funding using clearinghouse materials (section 12653a); support systems for recruiting, placing, and training volunteers; monitor and review all programs in the State that get national service assistance; and do other tasks assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
