Keeps certain computer tools used to find and stop waste, fraud, and abuse in Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP from being made public under the Freedom of Information Act. States may only use or share these tools to run their Medicaid or CHIP plans or to identify or prevent waste, fraud, and abuse, and they may let contractors help for those same purposes. States must have data security and access rules that the federal Health Secretary approves, limit who can see the tools, and follow uniform procedures the Secretary sets. Covered algorithm — a predictive model or analytics technology used to spot waste, fraud, and abuse in Medicare, Medicaid, or CHIP; includes the math and the way it is developed.
