§1397m–2 Long-term Care Ombudsman Program Grants and Training

Summary

The Secretary must give grants to groups that have experience with abuse and neglect in long-term care or with ombudsman work. The grants must help state long-term care ombudsman programs handle and solve complaints about abuse and neglect, run pilot projects with state or local ombudsmen, and support those programs, like by creating a national ombudsman resource center. The money authorized is: fiscal year 2011—$5,000,000; 2012—$7,500,000; and 2013 and 2014—$10,000,000 each. The Secretary must also create training programs for ombudsmen on elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation for national groups and state ombudsman programs. The law authorizes $10,000,000 for each fiscal year 2011 through 2014 for this training.
