Title 42 › Chapter 139— VOLUNTEER PROTECTION › § 14504
When a volunteer is sued for something they did while helping a nonprofit or a government group, how much they must pay for noneconomic loss (like pain and suffering) is based on their share of the blame. A judge or jury decides the percent of responsibility for each volunteer. Each volunteer pays only the portion of the noneconomic loss that matches that percent, and the court enters a separate amount owed for each volunteer.
