§16158 Codes and Standards

Summary

The Secretary, working with the Task Force, must give grants or make contracts with professional groups, public service organizations, and government agencies to help quickly create safety codes and standards for fuel cell vehicles, hydrogen energy systems, and stationary, portable, and micro fuel cells. The Secretary must also support these groups in teaching and sharing information, including best practices. Congress authorized these funds: $4,000,000 for fiscal year 2006; $7,000,000 for fiscal year 2007; $8,000,000 for fiscal year 2008; $10,000,000 for fiscal year 2009; $9,000,000 for fiscal year 2010; and such sums as are necessary for each of fiscal years 2011 through 2020.
