§16412 Training Guidelines for Nonnuclear Electric Energy Industry Personnel

Summary

The Secretary of Labor must create model training guidelines to help keep nonnuclear electric systems safe and reliable. The Secretary must do this while working with the other Secretary, the electric industry, and worker representatives. The guidelines must cover training for people who build, run, inspect, or maintain nonnuclear power plants, transmission lines, and distribution systems. They must set rules for competency, certification, and how workers are tested and evaluated — including initial and ongoing checks and recertification. The guidelines must also combine existing training standards that are in place when the new rules are made, such as the National Electric Safety Code and other industry standards.
