Conviction for a subversive act against the U.S. or its Allies committed after May 27, 1941 bars benefits under subchapter I, including death or detention payments. Charges suspend benefits until dropped or acquittal. Conviction or death before final decision forfeits payments; if charges are withdrawn or there is an acquittal, withheld payments are paid.
