Title 42 › Chapter 152— ENERGY INDEPENDENCE AND SECURITY › Subchapter IV— ENERGY SAVINGS IN GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS › Part B— Energy Efficiency in Federal Agencies › § 17141
Starting January 1, 2009, the Coast Guard must not buy or put standard incandescent light bulbs (called "general service incandescent lamps") into its facilities. They may use them only when needed for the purpose or design (for example medical, security, or industrial uses), when keeping an older fixture’s historic or architectural look makes sense, or when the Commandant says operational needs require it. "Facility" here does not include a Coast Guard vessel or aircraft.
