Title 42 › Chapter 152— ENERGY INDEPENDENCE AND SECURITY › Subchapter VII— IMPROVED MANAGEMENT OF ENERGY POLICY › Part A— Management Improvements › § 17285
Congress says the United States has enough renewable energy resources to supply a large part of the nation’s energy needs. Farmland, forests, and other working lands can help make a steady domestic energy supply. Faster development and use of renewable energy can improve national security, trade balance, rural economies, the environment, and give people reliable, affordable energy. Making fuels from renewables can meet growing demand, cut dependence on unstable foreign sources, stabilize costs, attract investment, create jobs, and raise farm and forestry incomes. With the right policies and incentives, renewable energy can be practical and cost effective and costs should fall over time. Congress’s goal is that by January 1, 2025, agricultural, forestry, and working lands should provide at least 25 percent of the total energy used in the United States while still producing safe, abundant, and affordable food, feed, and fiber.
