Title 42 › Chapter 13— SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAMS › § 1769b
Provide the Department of Defense with the same federal school-lunch payments and food supplies for its dependent schools located outside the United States and its territories that public schools get under the National School Lunch Program. The Defense Department must run the lunch program, decide who gets free or reduced-price meals using the Agriculture Department’s rules, and set how family income is calculated. Meals must meet the Agriculture Department’s nutrition rules, but Defense can allow exceptions when local conditions make strict compliance impractical. Money may be appropriated to cover Defense administrative costs, and the Agriculture Department must give technical help.
