The NASA Administrator must study how NASA student orbital programs affect STEM education. The study must list benefits and lessons from past and current programs, including Get Away Special (GAS) and Earth Knowledge Acquired by Middle School Students (EarthKAM). The study must also evaluate creating a program to help U.S. students and teachers build science or education payloads to fly on commercially available orbital platforms with frequent, regular launches. It must identify NASA skills that could help (science, engineering, payload development, and payload operations) and name the issues that must be resolved before judging if the program is feasible.
