Title 42 › CHAPTER 16 — NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION › § 1862n–5
Require the Board and every committee, subcommittee, task force, or any group made up of Board members that reports to the Board to follow section 552b of title 5 for their meetings. That rule applies to full Board meetings when enough members are present and to meetings of any subdivision when enough members of that subdivision are present. The Foundation’s Inspector General must review whether the Board is following that rule as needed based on a risk check done every three years. Any review will look at what was planned and what happened in closed meetings to decide if the closures followed section 552b. The Office of the National Science Board must keep the General Counsel’s certificate, the presiding officer’s statement, and a transcript or recording of any closed meeting for at least 3 years. The Director must allow part-time students to be eligible for scholarships under the Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics Scholarship program.
