Title 42 › Chapter 163— RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT, COMPETITION, AND INNOVATION › Subchapter III— NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION FOR THE FUTURE › Part B— STEM Education › § 18994
Carry out a full review of the Foundation’s skilled technical workforce investments across all Directorates in education, research, infrastructure, data collection, and analysis within 1 year after August 9, 2022. Then, within 180 days after that review is finished, send a summary of the review to Congress and share it with the public. Work with other federal statistical agencies and stakeholders to study whether adding rotating questions or topic modules to National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics (NCSES) surveys would help. Within 1 year after August 9, 2022, send the study results to Congress and the Board. The study should consider questions on the skilled technical workforce, working conditions and work-life balance, harassment and discrimination, immigration and emigration, and other topics the Director chooses. Keep speeding up efforts to make NCSES survey data more useful for long-term research. Also, within 1 year after August 9, 2022, the Comptroller General must report to Congress on how well the Foundation ensures NCSES data and analysis meet current and future needs and offer recommendations.
