Title 42 › Chapter 163— RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT, COMPETITION, AND INNOVATION › Subchapter III— NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION FOR THE FUTURE › Part E— Fundamental Research › § 19070
The Director can give competitive grants to colleges, nonprofits, or groups of them to pay for research about how inflation affects people and the country. Funded studies can look at things like cost-of-living and wage effects, U.S. international competitiveness, impacts on rural and underserved areas, effects on future generations, and how government policy (including more spending) affects inflation. When awarding grants, the Director must work with other federal agencies to avoid duplicating research.
