§1962–4 Implementation of Water Resources Principles and Requirements

Summary

The Secretary must, within 180 days after December 27, 2020, issue final agency-specific procedures to put the principles and interagency guidelines into practice. Those procedures must make sure future water resources projects follow the guiding principles and the national water resources planning policy in section 1962–3(a). They must also require a full identification and analysis of national economic development benefits, regional economic development benefits, environmental quality benefits, and other societal effects. The Secretary must review and, if needed, update the procedures every 5 years. When making or changing the procedures, the Secretary must notify interested non-Federal stakeholders, give them chances to provide input and recommendations, and seek public and expert comments. "Interagency guidelines" means the CEQ document finalized in December 2014. "Principles and requirements" means the CEQ document titled "Principles and Requirements for Federal Investments in Water Resources," dated March 2013.
