Summary
Federal laws that protect federal officers also cover the Commission’s officers, agents, and employees when they are doing their official jobs. If someone kills a person because of those official duties, the killer can be sentenced to prison for any number of years or for life.

Title 42, §2000e–13

The provisions of section 111 and 1114, title 18, shall apply to officers, agents, and employees of the Commission in the performance of their official duties. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 111 and 1114 of title 18, whoever in violation of the provisions of section 1114 of such title kills a person while engaged in or on account of the performance of his official functions under this Act shall be punished by imprisonment for any term of years or for life.
