Title 42 › Chapter 23— DEVELOPMENT AND CONTROL OF ATOMIC ENERGY › Subchapter XIII— GENERAL AUTHORITY OF COMMISSION › § 2207
The Commission can settle and pay money claims up to $5,000 against the United States for bodily injury, death, or loss or damage to property caused by a detonation, explosion, or radiation from a Commission explosive program. The claim must be in writing and filed within one year, and it must not have been caused, in whole or in part, by the claimant or their agents or employees. Any payment the Commission makes under this rule is final. If a claim is over $5,000 but seems valid and would otherwise qualify, the Commission may send the facts to Congress for its consideration.
