Title 42 › Chapter 6A— PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE › Subchapter II— GENERAL POWERS AND DUTIES › Part A— Research and Investigations › § 242o
The Secretary must hold a yearly meeting of state health officials. The Secretary can call extra meetings when public health needs it and may invite other state, local, public, or private health officials and groups. If health officials from five or more states ask for a meeting, the Secretary must call it for those states. Each state gets one vote. If mental health topics are on the agenda, the states’ mental health officials must be invited. The Secretary must also publish public health information from time to time. That includes weekly reports on health conditions in the United States and other countries and other useful health data for the public and for health organizations.
