The Secretary, using the National Center for Health Statistics, must send Congress a national disease prevention data profile on March 15, 1990, and on March 15 every three years after that. The profile must show death rates and illness rates for preventable diseases, describe physical factors that affect health and how they relate to preventable deaths and disabilities, and list behavioral factors (for example, smoking, diet, exercise, and alcohol) and their links to these conditions. The Secretary must follow the relevant rules in sections 242k and 242m when preparing the profile.
