§247b–14a Identification of Interventions That Reduce the Burden and Transmission of Oral, Dental, and Craniofacial Diseases in High Risk Populations; Development of Approaches for Pediatric Oral and Craniofacial Assessment

Summary

The Secretary of Health and Human Services must, through the Maternal and Child Health Bureau and the Indian Health Service and after consulting the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, support community-based research on the causes, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of pediatric oral, dental, and craniofacial conditions in high-risk groups, try out preventive programs (like nutrition, parenting, and feeding), and develop ways for clinicians to assess a child’s dental risk. All treatment and services must be given by licensed dental professionals who follow State practice and licensing laws. Money may be appropriated as needed for fiscal years 2001 through 2005.
