The Secretary may make agreements so Public Health Service facilities can share or exchange medical facilities and resources with medical schools, other health training programs, hospitals, and other health care places. These agreements can let them swap use or pay each other for use. The goals are to keep or improve care, help train and research, attract and keep good health staff, and make better use of hospitals and other resources. Specialized health resources: costly, rare, or unique equipment, space, or staff that are best used by sharing. Hospital: includes any Federal hospital.
