§254v Clarification Regarding Service in Schools and Other Community-based Settings

Summary

An organization that a Scholarship Program or Loan Repayment Program participant is assigned to can require the participant to work as a behavioral or mental health professional at a school or other community setting inside a health professional shortage area. Work done in those places can count toward the participant’s required service under those programs. The Secretary can limit how many hours count, but must allow at least 50 percent of the total required hours to be credited. That rule takes priority over other rules in the same part.
