Title 42 › Chapter 32— THIRD PARTY LIABILITY FOR HOSPITAL AND MEDICAL CARE › § 2652
Gives the President the power to make rules for carrying out this chapter, including rules for deciding the reasonable cost of hospital, medical, surgical, or dental care and treatment (including prostheses and medical appliances) provided or to be provided. If the President’s rules allow it, the head of the federal department or agency involved may settle, release, or waive any claim the United States has under section 2651, either for the Government’s convenience or if collecting would cause undue hardship for the injured person. Any action by the United States under these rules must not stop the injured person from getting the part of their damages that this chapter does not cover.
