During wartime, the Secretary, after talking with the Surgeon General, can make rules to detain and examine anyone reasonably believed to have a contagious disease named by Executive orders under section 264(b) and who might infect U.S. military members or people making or moving weapons, ships, food, clothing, or other military supplies. If the exam shows they are infected, the rules may allow holding them for as long and in the way reasonably needed.
