§274i–1 Solicitation of Donations; Prohibition on Use of Federal Funds

Summary

The Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network may raise money to cover the costs of making and giving medals. Any money it collects must be sent quickly to the Secretary of Health and Human Services to buy the medals and to pay the administrative costs of the Secretary of Health and Human Services and the Secretary of the Treasury. The Network may keep no more than 7 percent of those funds to pay its own administrative and fundraising costs for getting donations. No Federal money, including amounts Congress gives to the Network, may be used to carry out this medal program. That means federal funds cannot buy the medals or pay the HHS or Treasury administrative costs for this work.
