Title 42 › Chapter 6A— PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE › Subchapter II— GENERAL POWERS AND DUTIES › Part S— Health Care Quality Programs › Subpart i— national strategy for quality improvement in health care › § 280j–2
The Secretary must put performance and quality data on standardized public websites. The websites must be made for different users (like hospitals, doctors, patients, researchers, policymakers, and States). When available, the sites must show information by clinical condition and, where useful, give provider-specific and detailed breakdowns for patients with different conditions. The Secretary must work with the contractor under section 1890(a) of the Social Security Act and others to decide what information and formats are most helpful. That contractor must gather multi-stakeholder groups to review website designs and send their views to the Secretary. The Secretary should coordinate these websites with other public quality reports, including those under title XVIII of the Social Security Act. Money is authorized as needed for fiscal years 2010 through 2014.
