The Director can give grants to public or private groups to set up and run networks of clinical sites. These networks will plan and test rehab treatments and ways to measure outcomes for paralysis caused by brain or spinal cord injury, disease, or stroke. The networks can work on things like improving movement, helping people adapt and avoid further problems, testing rehab methods and assistive devices, making better assistive technology, and studying whole-body effects of impairment. The Director can make networks share information, stay in regular contact, and send periodic reports.
