The Director must collect, study, and quickly share up-to-date information for patients, their families, health professionals, and the public about research, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of heart, blood-vessel, lung, and blood diseases, about staying healthy to reduce those diseases, and about using and managing blood and blood products. The Director must work with public and private groups to (1) raise awareness and knowledge among health workers and the public about preventing these diseases and using blood resources, and (2) create and share information that encourages adults and children to adopt healthy habits to prevent them.
