The Secretary can set up a group called the Deafness and Other Communication Disorders Interagency Coordinating Committee. The committee must coordinate the work of national research institutes and the federal health programs that deal with deafness and other communication problems, and make sure those programs are technically sound and share needed information. Members are institute directors and federal health agency representatives. The NIH Director (or their designee) leads it and must meet at least four times a year.
