The Secretary must give grants to support training and education in medical library science and related health information fields. Grants can pay for people to do fellowships or traineeships after college, for librarians and health information specialists to get intensive retraining (including computer data and retrieval skills), for nonprofit schools or programs to create or improve training, and to set up internships in qualified medical libraries.
