§290ee–2a Peer Support Technical Assistance Center

Summary

The Secretary, through the Assistant Secretary, must set up and run a National Peer-Run Training and Technical Assistance Center for Addiction Recovery Support. The Center must give technical help to recovery community organizations and peer support networks. It must offer training on spotting substance use disorder, on resources for people and families, and on best ways to deliver recovery support. It must help with translation and interpretation for people with limited English, collect data for research, build capacity (for example, training peer specialists and offering services outside clinics), and evaluate and improve those services. The Center must also publish best practices from time to time. The Secretary may create one regional technical assistance center with existing resources to tailor help for a region. Not later than 4 years after December 1, 2025, the Secretary must evaluate that regional center and report to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions and the House Committee on Energy and Commerce about roles, outcomes, gaps or duplication, and recommendations. That regional authority ends on September 30, 2030. The term “recovery community organization” is defined in section 290ee–2. Up to $2,000,000 is authorized for each of fiscal years 2026 through 2030.
